In brief

Editorial conclusions belong to the editorial team, not advertisers, affiliate partners, product suppliers or automated tools.

Mission and independence

TechView Africa aims to make technology understandable, useful and safer for African and international readers. We cover phones, apps, artificial intelligence, software, digital money, security and emerging technology with attention to real-world access.

Editorial conclusions are controlled by the editorial team. Advertising, affiliate relationships, free products, travel support and sponsorship do not purchase a positive verdict, favourable headline or correction decision. Paid work is visibly labelled.

Source standards and verification

We favour official documentation, regulators, original reporting, direct interviews, product testing, primary research and reputable specialist sources. Anonymous sources are used only when the information is important, the source has a credible reason to need protection and the claim can be corroborated or clearly attributed.

Before publication, editors check facts especially for scam allegations, cybersecurity threats, financial information, prices, product specifications, laws, regulations, breaking news and statements about people or companies. Unconfirmed claims are described carefully and never presented as established fact.

Article labels

  • News — reported developments with a clear publication date and source context.
  • Analysis or Opinion — interpretation, argument or context distinguished from straight reporting.
  • How-To Guides — practical steps with device, app or version limits stated where relevant.
  • Review or Buying Guide — testing, comparison or decision support using the Review Methodology.
  • Sponsored, Affiliate or Paid Partnership — commercial relationships disclosed near the relevant content.
  • Security Alert or Updated Article — a visible signal that safety or changed facts need particular attention.

Conflicts of interest

Contributors must disclose gifts, free products, travel support, personal investments, employment connections, family relationships and other commercial relationships that could affect—or appear to affect—the work. Editors decide whether to add a disclosure, reassign a story or decline it. Review samples are identified as purchased, borrowed or supplied and whether they were returned.

Responsible use of AI

AI may assist with transcription, organisation, outlining, language editing or data formatting. A human editor must review meaningful output and verify claims against appropriate sources. We do not publish fabricated facts, invented quotes, invented product testing, fake sources or unverified AI-generated accusations. AI-generated imagery must not be presented as documentary evidence without disclosure.

We do not put passwords, private messages, identity documents, payment data or confidential work into a tool merely to speed up an editorial task. Contributors remain responsible for accuracy, attribution and privacy.

Sensitive reporting and corrections

We consider privacy, minors, victims, security vulnerabilities, personal data and defamation risk before publication. Responsible disclosure means giving affected parties a fair opportunity to respond where doing so does not create additional danger. Material errors are handled under the Corrections Policy; we do not silently change material facts.
