A review score is a summary of meaningful testing, not a payment, a press-release repeat or a claim that one product is best for everyone.
What we assess
Depending on the product, reviews may assess performance, reliability, ease of use, value for money, mobile experience, African availability, local payment compatibility, network compatibility, data consumption, repair and support availability, privacy and security, software-update support, accessibility and customer support. We state what was and was not tested.
Testing disclosure
Each substantive review should identify the product or software version, device tested, test period, country, network or connection where relevant, whether the product was purchased, borrowed or supplied, whether it was returned and the last-tested date. A draft or untested item is not presented as a completed hands-on review.
Scoring model

| Value | 15% | Price, limits, warranty, running costs and useful life |
| Mobile experience | 15% | Phone usability, data use, battery and responsive workflows |
| African availability | 10% | Local stock, network, payments, support and regional relevance |
| Privacy and security | 10% | Permissions, account controls, updates and risk signals |
| Support and reliability | 10% | Reliability, repairability, service and customer support |
| Additional context | 5% | Accessibility, ecosystem fit or category-specific factors |
Independence and commercial relationships
Advertisers cannot purchase a positive score. Free or supplied products do not guarantee favourable coverage. Affiliate commission does not determine the verdict. Sponsored content is not presented as an independent review. If category-specific weights are adjusted, the review explains the adjustment and does not calculate a score where meaningful testing has not occurred.
Review updates and buying guides
We update reviews when software changes, prices move, security incidents occur, products are recalled, long-term testing adds evidence or availability changes. A buying guide’s “best” recommendation must name the user need it serves; no single product is best for everyone. Compare final price, warranty, network, privacy and support before buying.
