In brief

TechView Africa uses Supabase for content and account functions and Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate readership. Advertising technology is not currently configured.

Who controls the information

TechView Africa is the publication responsible for this website. For privacy questions and requests, contact hello@techviewafrica.com or use the contact page.

Our primary framework is the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and applicable Nigeria Data Protection Commission guidance. Additional rights may apply depending on your location, including in the EEA, United Kingdom, Switzerland, United States, Canada or another jurisdiction with mandatory privacy rules.

Information we collect

Depending on how you use the site, we may handle the following categories:

  • Name, email address and the contents of a message, correction request, advertising enquiry or comment you choose to send.
  • Newsletter address, subscription status, source and subscription timestamps stored in Supabase.
  • Aggregate analytics information such as pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser characteristics, referral source and interaction timing collected through Google Analytics 4.
  • IP address, browser, device and security-log information that may be handled by the hosting, runtime, database, authentication or security layers.
  • Supabase authentication identifiers and admin-session information for approved administrators only.
  • Article images uploaded by approved administrators to the public article-images bucket; do not upload personal or confidential material.
  • We do not intentionally request passwords, banking PINs, authentication codes or highly confidential documents through ordinary contact forms.

Sources and purposes

Information may come from you, your browser or device, cookies and local storage, Google Analytics 4, Supabase and hosting providers, public sources and contributors. We use it to operate the website, understand aggregate readership, respond to messages, deliver requested newsletters, moderate comments, prevent abuse, protect security, improve coverage, maintain editorial records, administer approved accounts and meet legal obligations.

Affiliate tracking, advertising personalisation, push notifications and personalised recommendations are not active in this build. They must not be added without a reviewed configuration and corresponding policy update.

Cookies, local storage and sharing

The active site follows the visitor’s device light/dark preference through the browser’s `prefers-color-scheme` setting and uses browser local storage for the cookie-consent choice. Google Analytics 4 is used for audience measurement. Google AdSense, an affiliate network and advertising pixels are not currently configured. Supabase, hosting and security processors may handle technical data needed to operate the site. See the Cookie Policy for the current inventory.

We do not sell contact lists in the ordinary meaning of selling personal data. We may share relevant information with hosting, database, analytics, authentication, newsletter, security, professional, regulatory or law-enforcement providers where needed and lawful, and with a successor during a lawful restructuring. Each future provider must be assessed before activation.

International transfers and security

Some providers may process data outside Nigeria. We document the relevant provider terms, contractual safeguards and transfer considerations for active services. We use reasonable administrative, technical and organisational measures, including access controls and server-side handling of privileged credentials, but no system can promise absolute security.

Your rights

Depending on the law that applies to you, you may ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, withdrawal of consent or information about certain automated decisions. We may need proportionate verification before acting and may retain a narrow record of the request. Do not send identity documents by ordinary email; we will explain a safer verification route if one is needed.

You may also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission where applicable. Additional rights may apply depending on your location.

Privacy-rights request

Use this form to ask about access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability or consent withdrawal.

We will not request identity documents through ordinary email. This website validates the request and requires a reviewed intake connection before personal submissions are forwarded or stored.

Children and complaints

TechView Africa is a general-audience publication, not a service intended to collect information from children. We do not knowingly request children’s information for a separate child-directed service. If we learn that information was knowingly collected from a child in a way that requires action, we will handle it according to applicable law.

For a privacy concern, use the request form below or the contact page. We will acknowledge a request when it reaches a monitored intake, assess the applicable law and explain any lawful limitation. We do not promise a universal response deadline.

We date changes and explain material changes on this page where practical. Version 1.0 · Effective 6 August 2026 · Last updated 6 August 2026. This policy is updated when a new analytics, advertising, newsletter, payment, embedded-media or security provider is configured.
