We Checked What It Costs to Repair 20 Popular Smartphones in Nigeria

TechView Africa checked published repair prices for 20 smartphones Nigerians commonly use, comparing screens, batteries and charging ports. The biggest repair bill was usually the display.

Screen replacement was consistently the most expensive common repair in our sample. Published iPhone screen quotes ranged from ₦60,000 for an iPhone X to ₦220,000 for an iPhone 12 Pro Max, while batteries and charging ports cost considerably less. A smartphone can still be fast, supported and perfectly usable when one cracked screen suddenly makes keeping it feel uneconomical.

TechView Africa examined published Nigerian repair prices for 20 smartphones across Apple, Samsung, Infinix and TECNO, focusing on three common problems: broken displays, degraded batteries and faulty charging ports.

We found something more useful than a simple cheapest-to-fix ranking: screens dominate the repair bill, and knowing the price before visiting a technician is much easier for some phones than others.

What the repair prices look like

Our sample included iPhone X through iPhone 12 Pro Max models, Samsung Galaxy A15, A55, S23 and S24 Ultra, four Infinix Hot models, and the TECNO Spark 20 and Camon 20.

The pattern is clear: moving from the iPhone 11 generation into the 12 series pushes the display bill sharply upward, while battery costs rise far more slowly.

Android pricing is less straightforward

For Samsung models, Nigerian repair businesses commonly publish ranges rather than exact per-model prices. C and D Multi-Tech lists Samsung AMOLED screen replacements at ₦40,000–₦250,000, batteries at ₦20,000–₦55,000 and USB-C charging-port repairs at ₦15,000–₦40,000.

Samsung's own Care+ Nigeria schedule also demonstrates how display costs change by tier: covered front-screen repairs are priced at ₦33,585 for models including the Galaxy A15, ₦41,981 for the A55 tier and ₦83,964 for Galaxy S-series devices such as the S23 and S24 Ultra. Those are Care+ repair fees, not normal out-of-warranty quotations, so they should not be compared directly with independent-shop prices.

Infinix and TECNO present another pattern. Carlcare currently advertises original battery replacement for models including the Infinix Hot 30i and Hot 40i at ₦9,250, while the Hot 50i is ₦9,500. Current Nigerian parts listings put an Infinix Hot 40i display around ₦19,000–₦21,300 and a TECNO Spark 20 display around ₦19,000 before professional installation.

That makes many budget Android devices cheaper to repair at the component level, although exact labour-inclusive quotations can still vary.

Repairability is also about price transparency

We deliberately did not assign phones an arbitrary “8/10 repairability” score. For Nigerian buyers, financial repairability includes whether parts are available, whether a technician can quote the job clearly, whether labour is included and whether the repair carries a warranty.

TechView Africa previously examined why replacement screens can cost almost half the price of a phone including how display technology, bonded components and parts availability affect repair costs. One Lagos repair service currently starts general screen replacement at ₦25,000, battery replacement at ₦15,000 and charging-port work at ₦12,000. Another advertises mobile charging-port repairs from ₦16,000 with a three-month warranty. The actual device therefore matters but so does the part grade and repair channel.

Our Recommendation

Before buying a phone you intend to keep for several years, check three prices alongside the purchase price: screen, battery and charging port.

Screens deserve particular attention. In every model-specific iPhone quote we examined, the screen was the most expensive of the three repairs, sometimes by a very wide margin.

And always ask whether a quote includes parts, labour and warranty. A cheaper repair is not necessarily better value if the replacement part is substantially lower quality.

Methodology and Limitations

TechView Africa checked publicly available Nigerian repair prices and parts listings on 9 September 2026. The 20-device sample covered 10 iPhones, four Samsung Galaxy models, four Infinix models and two TECNO models.

Where a repair business published a precise model price, we preserved it. Where only a starting price or model-family range was available, we did not invent an exact figure. Samsung Care+ fees are identified separately because they are service-plan charges rather than ordinary market repair prices.
